Projects

I have been busy sewing for baby gifts. I decided it was time to take a break and make something for Ila. So, here you go. A cute girly bib and burp cloth made espeically for a special little girl!

I saw this on a ladies shirt at Sea World a couple of months back. Then, Jenny T. had it on a purse, I had no idea it was a brand just like "Life is Good." I love the simplicity of the message. I wanted it in our home, here you go, this is my take at trying to make my own Sugarboo design.

Do you wonder what Tyler has been doing with his spare time? Well, we bought this peice at a garage sale a couple of months back for $15. Yes, you read that correct. Fifteen dollars. It was an amazing deal, completely thrilled! Tyer refinished it and it turned out just perfect. Here is the before and after pictures.

A sight I will want to remember...

I walked into the kitchen and saw this little blonde boy sitting at the bar eating his afternoon snack. The sight stopped me in my tracks-He will never again be this little. I quickly grabbed the camera to capture this moment that we'll never get back. These are the little moments and snapshots I will forever have engraved in my memory.

Ila's Room is COMPLETE!

Ila's room is complete. Here are the pictures below, but let me say this, the pink in the room does not look anything as to how it came out in the pictures, totally different. In fact, the pink almost looks red in the pictures. Anyway, you can get an idea. The cushion that's on the chair, my mother made along with the quilt that's hanging on the crib. Now that her rooms done she can officially be born now! Come on Ila-we're ready for you!!!

The picture in the frame is the "Tickled Pink" picture we used to announce we're having a girl!

This Floirda Gator was on Carson's mobile. My mom made a pink "F" shirt for it to wear-it's now hanging from the fan.

I'm posting these pictures to show all of you, but really so that my mother and grandmother can see the finished products from our hard work this past weekend.
The first couple of pictures show my mother and I making a hospital gown. Yes, you heard right. A fashionable hospital gown!

I'm thankful for this mess!

The mess in the living room could, should, NEEDS to be cleaned up at some point this evening. But for right now, I'm looking at this mess with gratitude! I'm so thankful for the toys scattered all over the floor. It screams out:
"A CHILD LIVES HERE!"

Psalm 127:3
Children are a gift from the LORD.

Beth Moore: So Long Insecurity

This is what our Saturday night looked like, see picture below. Peaceful and Content. I've been reading the book from Beth Moore: So Long Insecuirty. It was reccomended to me by J. Slone and it's a WONDERFUL read that every woman should read. I feel blessed to be reading this right before the upcoming birth of a daughter, praying that I walk away from the book with insight to raising a "secure" little girl in this insecure world. We all know the silver rule; that we need to be today what we want our children to become tomorrow.

A song playing in my mind today and something I think we all need to be reminded of...

Critics Instead of Encouragers.

“Reading about the powerful but pathetic disciples has given me pause whenever I speak of fellow believers, particularly those who come from other branches of God’s church.

Sometimes we’re so eager to differentiate ourselves from certain denominations or spokespeople that we lose all sense of proportion and become outright critics.

Let’s honor what God has done, is doing, and will do through his imperfect church, even while trying to reform it. Not one disciple of Jesus lacked some serious faults — and yet Jesus still loved, called, and used each one.

God loves his church, and he loves the individuals who compose it. If we become critics instead of encouragers, we risk offending God. I know, I know — there are a million things the contemporary church could be doing better, and we could spend our entire lives doing nothing but pointing out each other’s shortcomings, theological prejudices, and stylistic embarrassments.

But ask yourself this: If the current church is so bad, so ineffective, and so irrelevant, how did you come to faith while being a part of it?

Our sisters and brothers may have different hairstyles, speaking styles, and worship styles and even different emphases in their preaching, but they are still God’s people.

Sometimes our pride makes us ashamed to be a part of others who embarrass us, but from the perspective of spiritual formation, anything that assaults our pride is a good thing — even if it means being categorized with someone with whom we may have legitimate disagreements.”

Gary Thomas
The Beautiful Fight, 217

I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
Ephesians 4:1-3

The joys of taking pictures of a 2 1/2 year old...

All I wanted was one good picture of him smiling, looking in the direction of the camera. Ha! This is what I got!

The Professor's Lesson

An economics professor at a local college made a statement that he had never failed a single student before, but he had once failed an entire class. That class had insisted that Obama's socialism worked and that no one would be poor and no one would be rich, a great equalizer.

The professor then said, "OK, we will have an experiment in this class on Obama's plan”. All grades would be averaged and everyone would receive the same grade.

After the first test, the grades were averaged and everyone got a B. The students who studied hard were upset and the students who studied little were happy.

As the second test rolled around, the students who studied little had studied even less and the ones who studied hard decided they wanted a free ride too so they studied little. The second test average was a D. No one was happy.

When the 3rd test rolled around, the average grade was an F.

The scores never increased as bickering, blame and name-calling all resulted in hard feelings and no one would study for the benefit of anyone else. Everyone failed, to their great surprise, and the professor told them that socialism would also ultimately fail – because when the reward is great, the effort to succeed is great but when government takes all the reward away, no one will try or want to succeed.

It can’t be any simpler than that.

Influential Women

Some of the most influential christian women I know are often the quietest and the least likely to speak-its by their actions that they speak the loudest.
